Look at what we will be learning next week:
Math: Learners will continue to subitize (instantly recognize a group of objects) and count to 20. We will represent numbers up to 20 in standard form, expanded form and produce a set or draw pictures of up to 20 objects.
Fun videos to watch with your child:
Science: Our little scientists will be learning how observe items closely, make detailed drawings for their journals, and how to use science tools correctly and safely.
Language Arts:
Reading: We will continue to discuss building good reading habits and begin to learn reading strategies to help us solve tricky words. Don't forget to practice your snap words in the reading course every day.
Writing: We will continue to build stamina when writing a narrative story.
Phonics: We will talk about the short /e/ sound.
Social Studies: We will continue learning about the purpose for rules and laws in the home, school, and community. We will review community helpers and types of communities.
Discussions at home:
Have a friendly discussion with your child over first grade's zoom expectations. Have them tell you 5 ways that they can set themselves up for success. First Grade Rocks!
Important News:
Zoom Sign in Update
Starting Monday, August 31, CISD will be requiring all learners to sign into Zoom using their CISD email address. This change will allow for better classroom management and will limit disruptions in the event the meeting link is shared to people outside of the district.

Assignment Help
Parents we are so thankful for your amazing partnership as we navigate virtual learning together. We are looking forward to learning about your child's academic strengths and areas of growth this week as we dive into content-specific assignments. In order to do this, it is important. that we have an authentic understanding of your child's abilities through their assignments. We would love for you to help your child understand assignment directions and answer simple questions your child may have during the day. We are asking that when they are working on their assignments for you to not intervene if they make a mistake. Mistakes are how we learn and seeing what your child is able to do independently is an important part of our roles as teachers. Thank you so much for all you are doing to partner with us this year. We could not do this without all of YOU!
