May 24 - 26

Calendar

May 24th - Field Day - options for both face-to-face and virtual learners. Make sure to wear your class t-shirt. If you don't have a class t-shirt then wear a t-shirt that has the same color as the first grade class t-shirt.
May 25th - Party Bag Pick-Up for remote learners in the front loop 7:45-8:30 AM (or call the front office that day for alternate pick-up time)
May 26th - Last Day of School/Early Release - 12:30
May 26th - Report Cards will be sent home via e-mail

Zoom Schedule

May 24th - We will have a morning meeting but will not have a literacy or a math zoom.
May 25th - Normal schedule
May 26th - The only zoom will be our party zoom from 9:15 - 10:00.

FIELD DAY - Monday, May 24th (weather permitting)

Wear your first grade t-shirt and tennis shoes
12:15 - 2:40
Bring a water bottle with your name labeled on it
Virtual Learners - Look in the PE folder in Schoology for your field day

Look at what we will be learning next week:

Math and Science - We will spend this week reviewing our first grade math and science skills. Learners will be working on an end of the year choice board to show their learning.

Language Arts - We will have a choice board for our last week of school.

Social Studies: We will review learned skills!!

Virtual Learner Announcements

Dream Box - Please make sure your child is on Dream Box at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes. :-)
If you have any books at home that were given to you by your teacher, please put in a Zip-lock bag with your child's name and class on it and put it by the front door of TCE.
If you ordered a yearbook for your child, please call the front office to make pick up arrangements.
Your child will need to bring a LABELED water bottle to Field Day.

Face to Face Learner Announcements

Please make sure you put your child's fully charged Ipad and charger in their backpack each day. The Ipad battery should be 100%.

Please make sure to send any library books back to school.

May 17th - All Virtual Learner Book in a Bags are due back at TCE. You will also pick up an envelope with important information in it. Please bring books back in the original cloth bag. Math manipulatives are also due back (place in cloth bag).
May 24th - Field Day - More news to come - options for both face-to-face and virtual learners. We will have a "Field Day Pick-Up" the week prior for remote learners to pick up materials.

Fun activities to do at home:

READING - Enjoy some extra time reading on Bookflix, Epic, Learning A-Z, Book in a Bag, or check out some books from the TCE library. Our librarian hands out library books on Wednesdays.

In the reading course of Schoology, you can find the kindergarten, first grade, and second grade snap word list.

Social Studies: Discuss different landforms in our country!!!

Math: We will learn about the parts of the clock. We will tell time to the hour and half hour.

Science: We will be learning how plants and animals rely on other living things for survival.

Language Arts:

Reading: Next week we will continue to practice what we have learned to make us better readers.

Writing: We will continue our unit on Realistic Fiction.

Phonics: We will learn how to make a verb past tense if it ends in -- vowel + consonant

Social Studies: The learners will identify and describe physical characteristics of landforms.

Fun activities to do at home:

Math - You can find geometric shapes everywhere! Practice observation skills and help your child notice geometric shapes on a family walk or drive. Discuss how many sides and vertices they see?

Please ask your child if they have working headphones. Many learners have broken their headphones or the headphones do not fit them correctly. We use these every day so it's good to invest in a good pair of headphones. If your child needs a new pair, please send them to school.
