Look at what we will be learning next week:

Math: We will be discussing numbers up to 120. We will compose, decompose and compare numbers up to 120.  We will also continue to practice counting by 2s to 120.

Science: This week we will continue to record and observe changes in the sky.  We will be observing how the sun moves through the sky during the day and how this affects shadows.

Language Arts:

Reading:   We will utilize Raz Kids to practice our non-fiction reading.  Please make sure that the microphone is working on your child's Ipad.  When they record themselves reading, Mrs. McCullough and Mrs. Vincenzo will be listening to the fluency of their voice on their recordings.

Writing:  We will enjoy some fun writing topics next week.  We will also have lessened assignments due to MAP testing.

Phonics:    We will talk about the rule of when to use /ai/ or /ay/ when trying to write long a words.

Social Studies:  The learners will compare the lives of historical figures who have influenced the state and nation.

Fun activities to do at home:

  • Select an image and think about which one does not belong. Use math to describe why and how you know.
  •  Select one image and think about how many you see. Use math to describe how many and how you know.
Practice counting to 120 by twos with your child.

READING  - The Raz Kids app is available to all learners (virtual and face to face).  If your child has extra time at night this is a great way to increase reading skills! Even 15 minutes will help increase vocabulary, increase fluency, and increase comprehension!

Practice reading the snap words.  Remember, your child should be able to read all of the snap words in a "snap".

Virtual Learner Announcements
  • Dream Box - Please make sure your child is on Dream Box at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes.  :-)

Face to Face Learner Announcements
  • Please ask your child if they have working headphones.   Many learners have broken their headphones or the headphones do not fit them correctly.  We use these every day so it's good to invest in a good pair of headphones.  If your child needs a new pair, please send them to school.
  • Please make sure you put your child's fully charged Ipad and charger in their backpack each day.  The Ipad battery should be 100%.
  • We have library on Mondays.  Please make sure to send your library books back to school on Monday so your child can check out some new books.
  • It is getting colder!! We will still go out for recess as long as the temperature/wind chill is above freezing. Please make sure your child has the appropriate gear and that it is labeled!
The teachers are bundled up for a chilly recess!
