Look at what we will be learning next week:

Math: Learners will begin to skip count by twos to 120.   Students will also continue to represent and generate word problems involving addition and subtraction of whole numbers up to 20 using concrete and pictorial models and number sentences.

Science: We will be learning about objects and patterns in the sky.  We will learn about the moon, stars, sun, and clouds.

Language Arts:

Reading:   We will continue to talk about the differences between fiction and non-fiction

Writing:   We will continue our expository writing unit learning how to write facts/details without giving an opinion.

Phonics:    We will learn about the vowel team /ea/ and continue our rule that says "When two                   vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.

Social Studies:   The learners will describe the life of a historical figure and how they influenced their community, state, and nation  through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Fun activities to do at home:

  • Select an image and think about which one does not belong. Use math to describe why and how you know.
  •  Select one image and think about how many you see. Use math to describe how many and how you know.
Practice counting to 120 by twos with your child.

READING  - The Raz Kids app is available to all learners (virtual and face to face).  If your child has extra time at night this is a great way to increase reading skills! Even 15 minutes will help increase vocabulary, increase fluency, and increase comprehension!

Practice reading the snap words.  Remember, your child should be able to read all of the snap words in a "snap".

Virtual Learner Announcements
  • Dream Box - Please make sure your child is on Dream Box at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes.  :-)

Face to Face Learner Announcements
  • Please ask your child if they have working headphones.   Many learners have broken their headphones or the headphones do not fit them correctly.  We use these every day so it's good to invest in a good pair of headphones.  If your child needs a new pair, please send them to school.
  • Please make sure you put your child's fully charged Ipad and charger in their backpack each day.  The Ipad battery should be 100%.
  • We have library on Mondays.  Please make sure to send your library books back to school on Monday so your child can check out some new books.
  • It is getting colder!! We will still go out for recess as long as the temperature/wind chill is above freezing. Please make sure your child has the appropriate gear and that it is labeled!
The teachers are bundled up for a chilly recess!
