Look at what we will be learning next week:
Math: Learners will continue to collect, sort and organize data using representations such as tally marks, or T-charts. We will use the data to create pictographs and bar-type graphs while drawing conclusions from our results.
Science: This week we will continue learning about weather and weather forecasting. We will be able to describe the weather as hot or cold, clear or cloudy, calm or windy, and rainy or icy
Language Arts:
Reading: We will continue to explore non-fiction books.
Writing: We will continue our expository writing unit. We will also concentrate on making our writing "pop" by adding details, using adjectives, and lengthening our sentences.
Phonics: We will study the vowel team of /oa/.
Social Studies: Next week we will talk about the lives of Ruby Bridges, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and George Washington Carver. We love learning about famous Americans!
Fun activities to do at home:
Math Activities to do with your child at home
Make a story problem
- Give your child a number sentence, 13 - ? = 10
- Have your mathematician tell you a story that matches the number sentence.
Practice counting to 120 by twos with your child.
READING - The Raz Kids app is available to all learners (virtual and face to face). If your child has extra time at night this is a great way to increase reading skills! Even 15 minutes will help increase vocabulary, increase fluency, and increase comprehension!
Practice reading the snap words. Remember, your child should be able to read all of the snap words in a "snap".
- Dream Box - Please make sure your child is on Dream Box at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes. :-)
- Virtual learners -- if you would like to check out books from the TCE library, please click on Mrs. Mancuso's link below to learn how: https://www.loom.com/share/3e99db6ca13c438a8b891ceb10298987
- Please ask your child if they have working headphones. Many learners have broken their headphones or the headphones do not fit them correctly. We use these every day so it's good to invest in a good pair of headphones. If your child needs a new pair, please send them to school.
- Please make sure you put your child's fully charged Ipad and charger in their backpack each day. The Ipad battery should be 100%.
- We have library on Mondays. Please make sure to send your library books back to school on Monday so your child can check out some new books.
- It is getting colder!! We will still go out for recess as long as the temperature/wind chill is above freezing. Please make sure your child has the appropriate gear and that it is labeled!
Reminder: Town Center Yearbooks
A note from the cafeteria staff
Breakfast and lunch are FREE for ALL elementary students through the end of school when they pick up a meal in the cafeteria (for in-person learners) or via Wednesday Bundle Meals (virtual learners only). We are still asking that virtual learners sign up for bundle meals via the Bundle Meal Signup Form to help give us an idea of how to plan.
