Math: Learners will continue to count by twos, fives, and tens to determine the value of a collection of pennies, nickels and/or dimes. Learners will also discover a variety of ways to make up to a dollar. For example, learners will discover that 4 quarters equal a dollar as well as 10 dimes.
Science: We will continue learning about fish and chicken life cycles this week. Our tadpoles should be arriving any day now!!
Language Arts:
Reading: We will talk about parts of the book to make sure we have good comprehension when we read.
Writing: We will finish up our persuasive writing unit.
Phonics: Next week we will talk about the 2 sounds that /oo/ can make.
Social Studies: When making good choices, you must have character traits of a good citizen.
Fun activities to do at home:
Have fun learning about coins while singing along to this song.
Start collecting coins in a zip lock bag. Have your child organize the coins by their value. Keep the bag of coins ready during our math zoom time.
READING - Enjoy some extra time reading on Bookflix, Epic, Learning A-Z, Book in a Bag, or check out some books from the TCE library. Our librarian hands out library books on Wednesdays.
In the reading course of Schoology, you can find the kindergarten, first grade, and second grade snap word list.
Social Studies: We have started our unit on Economics in social studies. This is a great time for discussions with your children about earning money, spending money, and the differences between needs and wants.
- Dream Box - Please make sure your child is on Dream Box at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes. :-)
- Virtual learners -- if you would like to check out books from the TCE library, please click on Mrs. Mancuso's link below to learn how: https://www.loom.com/share/3e99db6ca13c438a8b891ceb1029898
- Our district uses a web-based platform called bulb. Using bulb, your child can showcase their work and growth as a learner. We will need everyone to download the bulb app from manger. Once the app is downloaded, please watch the video and follow the steps to log into your child's account and add a page to their digital portfolio. Please have this done by Monday, March 8th. If you need help, please reach out to your child's math and science teacher.
- Please ask your child if they have working headphones. Many learners have broken their headphones or the headphones do not fit them correctly. We use these every day so it's good to invest in a good pair of headphones. If your child needs a new pair, please send them to school.
- Please make sure you put your child's fully charged Ipad and charger in their backpack each day. The Ipad battery should be 100%.
- We have library on Mondays. Please make sure to send your library books back to school on Monday so your child can check out some new books.
